“Pure product of the Czech enduro school”
The eastern European countries have become more and more prominent in the bike race. Every year representatives from Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic have sneaked into the Top 15. On the 2015 edition, Milan Engel was one of the latest additions. A pure product of the Czech enduro school, the Milan impressed despite taking off with bib number 151. He eventually managed to fight his way to the leading positions of the rally, finishing his first Dakar in 30th spot. Despite starting the 2016 edition with a shoulder injury, Milan was hoping to improve on that result last year but went out on stage 10, having started the day in 33rd position overall.
