“It enters straight into your heart”
“For a rider, the Dakar is the crowing of a career!”. Simone Agazzi has no doubt. He grew up in the bike shop of his parents and with 14 he started with the trial before competing Motocross at an international level when he turned 18. Former Italian enduro champion, Agazzi started to organize bike tour in Tunisia with Dakar legends like Giacomo Vismara and Ciro De Petri. His passion from the Dakar was born thanks to the stories and the memories heard around the fireplace in those trips in the desert. Last year he made his debut on the Dakar Rally. It was a big event as, ten years after Giovanni Sala, the city of Bergamo was once again represented on the Dakar. Unfortunately things didn't go as expected and during the third stage Simone crashed and was transported by helicopter to the hospital. His race was over, but not the dream. Thanks to his special relationship with Honda as Honda dealer, he is back with the HRC Honda CRF 350 Rally, on the bike Kevin Benavides used last year and finished 4th.
“To do the Dakar is a dream that I have been cultivating since a long time. For a rider, to do the Dakar is like the crowning of a career, the most ambitious objective for any off-road rider. I want to come back to finish the race. It's my personal challenge. You cannot get rid of the Dakar, it enters straight into your heart! I have prepared my return thoroughly because I believe that the preparation is the winning key and an important part if you aim at finishing the Dakar. I'm really excited because I can count on a professional team and also on the support of Giulio Minelli, a great navigator with 20 Dakar under his belly. Thanks to a special relation with Honda I will ride the 2016 factory bike of Kevin Benavides, who finished 4th last year in Rosario. It's a special project as I'm not a pro rider. The idea is to give amateur riders the opportunity to ride an official Honda bike on the Dakar. I think it can be the beginning of something big. It's a dream come true for an amateur rider to have this great opportunity.”
