New era opens for Ardavichus
After Kamaz, Tatra last year, the driver from Kazakhstan will be part of the Veka MAN Rally Team with high ambitions. As a newcomer on the Dakar in 2011, Kazakhstan's Artur Ardavichus impressed, finishing in 8th place on the podium in Buenos Aires. Quite a performance for a first experience. But that was just the first chapter of Artur's fantastic story. A year later, in an improved Kamaz, the smiling Kazak driver powered to an amazing third spot overall in Lima and a first ever stage success on the way to Arica. His triumphant path to glory however came to a halt in 2013 when he was forced to quit during stage 7. The next chapter of Artur's Dakar story was slightly less impressive as a part of the Tatra family. Still he managed to finish all three of his last Dakar rallies capturing a convincing 11th spot a year ago. Thanks to his experience and the support of his main sponsor Astana, Ardavichus switches teams again and will be behind the steering wheel of a MAN truck. A good opportunity to shine in a truck that finished 4th last year when it was driven by Hans Stacey. At his side, Ardavichus will be able to count on the precious help of experienced navigator Serge Bruynkens, formerly with Van Vliet, Loprais and Stacey and a newcomer on the Dakar (in the race), Michel Van den Sande.
