“Get closer to the front”
Frank Tilburgs made a good Dakar debut in 2016 (32nd overall). With the DAF completely rebuild and fitted with an automatic gearbox, the team is looking for a better result and aiming for the top 20 in 2017. New on board is navigator Marcel Snijders, who brings a lot of experience to the team.
F.T.: ‘'We went through a lot of misery in the dunes around Fiambala. We were struggling and lost a lot of time there. But most days we were doing fine and the satisfaction at the finish in Rosario was great. Navigator Marcel Snijders has a lot of Dakar experience, which is good for the team and gives me a good feeling. In the dunes I found it difficult to choose the right gears. The automatic gearbox should help me with that. Although it was a lot of work, more than we anticipated, the preparations went fine. Our goal is to get closer to the front, we aim for a place in the top 20.”
